ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 21. The Chairman of the Board of PJSC Gazprom Alexei Miller, and the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar discussed issues related to the further development of cooperation in the gas sector during a meeting in St. Petersburg, Trend reports via Gazprom.
Gazprom recalls that in October 2023, the supply of Russian natural gas to consumers in Uzbekistan via Kazakhstan began. The supplies are organized in reverse mode along a specially allocated route based on the Central Asia-Center main gas pipeline system.
In 2023, the Government of Kazakhstan and Gazprom signed an agreement on strategic cooperation aimed at developing collaboration in the supply, transportation, and processing of natural gas, as well as its geological exploration and extraction.
The parties have already started discussing a project to build gas pipeline infrastructure for 45 billion cubic meters of gas, of which it is expected that 10 billion cubic meters will be used for the gasification of northeastern Kazakhstan, while 35 billion cubic meters will be exported to the People's Republic of China.
In November 2024, Gazprom and the Government of Kazakhstan signed an agreement on the basic conditions for the processing and sale of gas from the Karachaganak field for 2025-2026.
