BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 2. The total volume of loans granted to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Azerbaijan reached 1.97 billion manat ($1.1 billion) by the end of March 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan indicates that this represents an increase of 254 million manat ($149.4 million), or a 14.8 percent rise, compared to the same period in 2024 (1.71 billion manat ($1 billion)).
To note, during this period, the total business loan portfolio of banks operating in Azerbaijan amounted to 14.9 billion manat ($8.8 billion), reflecting a growth of 13.1 percent, or 1.7 billion manat ($1 billion), compared to April 1, 2024.
To note, the number of active medium-sized enterprises in Azerbaijan reached 4,100 as of April 1, 2025. These businesses account for 2.1 percent of the total number of commercial organizations in the country, with the majority operating in sectors such as "Trade; vehicle repair" (34.6 percent), "Construction" (15.4 percent), "Manufacturing" (11.3 percent), and "Professional, scientific, and technical activities" (4.9 percent).
