ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 20. In 2024, KazTransOil reduced atmospheric pollutant emissions by 6.9 percent compared to 2023 levels, Trend reports.
According to the company, emissions from 2019 to 2024 decreased by 38.75 percent.
“These results were achieved through systematic work on the modernization of production facilities, the implementation of energy-efficient technologies, and the application of environmentally safe solutions,” the statement said.
Specifically, the following measures were implemented to reduce emissions:
equipping storage tanks with pontoons and reflective discs;
converting boiler houses from liquid fuel to natural gas and electricity.
“One of the key activities included the installation of pontoons in 20,000 m³ oil storage tanks No. 10 and No. 12 at the T. Kasymov oil pumping station of the Atyrau Oil Pipeline Department, as well as in tanks No. 1 and No. 2 at the B. Dzhumagaliev main oil pumping station of the Zhezkazgan Oil Pipeline Department,” the company noted.
As part of its plans for 2025 to 2030, the company is looking to cut down atmospheric emissions by another 15 percent. This is set to come about through the ongoing take-up of environmentally friendly technologies and steps to boost energy efficiency and cut down on environmental impact.
