ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 23. Voter turnout in Kazakhstan’s elections to the Kurultai reached 37.05% as of 12:00 local time, Trend’s special correspondent reports from Astana citing the Central Election Commission.
“Across the country, 4,670,816 voters had received ballots as of 12:00, accounting for 37.05% of those included in the voter lists,” the CEC said.
According to data provided by territorial election commissions, voter turnout stood at 47.59% in Kyzylorda Region, 47.29% in Zhetisu Region, 43.14% in Turkistan Region, 42.53% in Aktobe Region, 41.89% in East Kazakhstan Region, 41.60% in Shymkent and 40.56% in Karaganda Region.
Turnout was 39.57% in Akmola Region, 39.05% in Almaty Region, 38.51% in Abai Region, 38.13% in North Kazakhstan Region, 35.84% in Atyrau Region, 35.74% in Pavlodar Region, 35.54% in Zhambyl Region, 35.49% in West Kazakhstan Region, 35.28% in Astana, 34.93% in Ulytau Region, 34.72% in Kostanay Region and 34.68% in Mangystau Region.
Turnout in Almaty stood at 17.87%.
The next voter turnout figures will be released at 14:00.
