ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 23. The elections should benefit Kazakhstan, Chairperson of the TURKPA Commission on Legal Affairs and International Relations and member of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Osman Mesten told journalists, Trend’s special correspondent reports from Astana.
“We saw that technology and artificial intelligence are being used to the greatest extent possible as part of the preparations. All necessary measures have been taken to ensure the full participation of citizens in the elections and to ensure that their opinions are reflected at the state level. Necessary measures have also been taken to enable people with disabilities to vote,” he said.
Mesten noted that polling stations had been opened in 61 countries to enable Kazakh citizens living abroad to participate in the elections.
“Necessary measures are also being taken to inform and guide citizens on issues related to participation in the voting,” he added.
According to Mesten, some members of the TURKPA delegation were present at the opening of polling stations in the morning.
“We saw that the polling stations opened in accordance with international standards. Relevant officials, chairpersons, as well as local and international observers were present on site,” he said.
Mesten emphasized that voters were coming to polling stations despite bad weather.
“Voting will continue until 8:00 p.m. Therefore, I expect turnout to be quite high,” he said.
He also noted the strong interest of the Kazakh people in the elections and their active participation in the life of the country.
“In addition to our work observing the elections, we are also conducting social observations. We see that under the leadership of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Kazakh people and the state are acting as one, seeking to develop the state and the people together and carrying out reforms. We hope that these elections will benefit Kazakhstan,” the TURKPA Commission chair said.
