BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 22. Azerbaijan imported 419,100 tons of wheat from January through April this year.
The data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee shows that the
expenditure associated with this import volume totaled $90.5
million.
In juxtaposition with the corresponding timeframe in 2024, the
influx of wheat imports escalated by 152,500 metric tons,
reflecting a substantial uptick of 57.2 percent in volumetric
terms, alongside a monetary augmentation of $30.8 million, equating
to a 51.6 percent increase in fiscal value.
During the initial quadrimester of 2024, Azerbaijan executed the
procurement of 266,600 metric tons of wheat, accruing a fiscal
outlay of $59.7 million.
Throughout the designated reporting interval, wheat constituted a
mere 1.11 percent of the aggregate import portfolio of the
nation.
