ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 27. In 2025, Kazakhstan plans to carry out repairs at more than 500 energy facilities, said Nabi Aytzhanov, Chairman of the Board of KEGOC (Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company), at a Government meeting, Trend reports.
During his speech, he reported on the results of the past autumn-winter period (AWP) and preparations for the upcoming 2025-2026 season.
According to him, necessary scheduled maintenance was carried out on the country’s power plants on time during the past season.
“As part of preparations for the 2024-2025 autumn-winter period, scheduled equipment repairs were carried out at power plants, including on 10 power units, 55 boilers, and 45 turbines. Planned electricity imports by the Single Purchaser enabled the repair campaign at the power plants,” he noted.
He also emphasized that as a result, the level of equipment failures has noticeably decreased.
“As a result, during the 2024-2025 autumn-winter period, there has been a 27 percent reduction in emergency shutdowns of power plant equipment, with the duration of such shutdowns reduced by 25 percent. There has also been a 5 percent decrease in emergency shutdowns at block power plants, with duration reduced by 47 percent,” Aytzhanov reported.
KEGOC (Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company) is a state-owned enterprise responsible for managing Kazakhstan's National Power Grid (NPG) and acting as the System Operator of the Unified Power System (UPS) of Kazakhstan.
Today, a governmental assembly is convening in Kazakhstan. The agenda encompasses the analytical outcomes of the preceding thermal cycle and the strategic preparations for the forthcoming thermal cycle.
