BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. The volume of loans issued to micro-entrepreneurship entities in Azerbaijan amounted to 3.13 billion manat ($1.85 billion) as of late April this year.
The data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan shows that this represents an increase of 62 million manat ($36.6 million) or two percent compared to the end of March (3.07 billion manat or $1.8 billion). Over the past year, the volume grew by 373 million manat ($220 million), or 13.5 percent, as the figure was 2.7 billion manat ($1.63 billion) at the end of April 2023.
Since April, the total business loan portfolio of banks operating in Azerbaijan has reached 14.952 billion manat ($8.83 billion), up 17.7 million manat ($1.05 million), or 0.12 percent, from 14.9 billion manat ($8.82 billion) at the end of March. Of this total, 984.7 million manat ($582 million) were loans funded through state resources.
As of April 1, 2025, the aggregate count of formally recognized micro-entrepreneurial entities within the national landscape reached 181,500. A substantial proportion of these entities are predominantly involved in the trade and vehicle repair sector, accounting for 35.1 percent, followed by other service activities at 11.4 percent, construction at 9.2 percent, professional, scientific, and technical activities at 7.8 percent, and agriculture, forestry, and fishing at 6.6 percent.
