BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 2. Iranian wheat farmers have received a total of 148 trillion rials (about $242 million) for wheat purchased under the guaranteed procurement program since April 5, 2025, Sohrab Sohrabi, the official in charge of the wheat program at Iran’s Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), told reporters, Trend reports.
He noted that a total of 2.46 million tons of wheat have been procured from farmers so far. This volume was harvested from over 1 million hectares of land, with a total market value of approximately 500 trillion rials (equivalent to about $818 million).
Sohrabi added that the highest amount of wheat has been collected from Khuzestan Province with 1.4 million tons, followed by Fars Province with 236,000 tons and Ilam Province with 178,000 tons.
Wheat has been planted across 6.39 million hectares in Iran this year. Of this, 4.22 million hectares are rainfed, while the remaining 2.17 million hectares are irrigated.
For the current year (from March 21, 2025, through March 20, 2026), the guaranteed purchase price has been set at 205,000 rials (about $0.38) per kilogram for bread wheat and 210,000 rials (about $0.39) per kilogram for durum wheat.
