BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 17. Grain harvesting has been completed on 21 percent of the fields in Azerbaijan.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's Ministry of Agriculture shows that from 196,064 hectares of the sown area, 631,824 tons of crops have been collected.
Currently, the average grain yield across the country is 32.2 centners per hectare.
The harvesting process is mainly underway in barley fields in the lowland regions. This year, winter barley was sown on 426,623 hectares in the country. Harvesting is completed on 42.5 percent of the sown area. The average barley yield is 32 centners per hectare.
Presently, barley harvesting is underway in 43 districts. It is nearing completion in Jalilabad, Barda, Neftchala, Salyan, and Yevlakh districts. In these areas, more than 90 percent of barley sown fields have been harvested. The highest barley yields were recorded in Hajigabul (40 centners/ha), Barda (39.4 centners/ha), Sabirabad (38.7 centners/ha), and Salyan (38.4 centners/ha) districts.
On June 16, 1,415 combines participated in grain harvesting. Of these, 579 belong to Agroservice OJSC, and 836 to individuals and legal entities. Currently, the greatest number of combines operate in the fields of Jalilabad (125), Shaki (116), Neftchala (82), and Kurdamir (78) districts.
One of the districts where harvesting is finishing and high barley yields are observed is the Sabirabad district. This year, winter crops were sown on 20,290 hectares in Sabirabad: wheat was sown on 10,904 hectares and barley on 9,387 hectares. Harvesting is already completed on 70 percent of barley fields and 2.3 percent of wheat fields in the district. The average barley yield is 38.7 centners/ha, and the wheat yield is 43.4 centners/ha.
Harvesting involves 64 combines. Of these, 23 belong to Agroservice OJSC and 41 to individuals and legal entities.
