BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 27. It is planned that the products of the textile factory in Khankendi will be exported to the markets of Russia, Europe, and the US, the director of BUSINESS TEX JV, which is carrying out construction works of the textile factory in Khankendi, Afgan Muslimov told Trend.
According to him, a textile factory is being built in Khankendi, which will be an important step for the development of the textile industry in the region.
“The project is being implemented by joint efforts of Uzbek and local entrepreneurs within the framework of BUSINESS TEX JV LLC. The main goal is not only to develop the textile industry in Azerbaijan but also to provide jobs for people resettled in the liberated territories, which in turn will contribute to the economic growth of the region,” he said.
The director noted that about 70 percent of construction works have already been completed, and the remaining 30 percent is planned to be completed by the end of November this year.
“The factory will open its doors to its first employees soon. It is planned to employ about 400 people in the first phase of the factory, and by the end of the second phase, which will be completed in December 2025, between 800 and 1,000 people will be employed. Specialists from Uzbekistan will play an important role in the process, who will not only share their knowledge and experience but will also help train local professionals to work in the textile sector,” Muslimov emphasized.
Afgan Muslimov mentioned that the factory will accept orders for various types of knitted products (sports kits, casual wear, etc.).
“As for export potential, the factory's products are planned to be supplied to the markets of Russia, Europe, and the US,” he clarified.
He stated that machine tools at the factory will be supplied from Türkiye, while raw materials for tailoring will be supplied from Uzbekistan.
“The first floor will be used for cutting, while the second and third floors will function as a weaving shop. The basement part will function as a depot,” Muslimov added.
To note, the total investment value of the textile factory is $6 million. The 1.5-ha factory has a building area of 4,000 square meters.
