Kazakhstan Temir Zholy company (Kazakhstan Railways) has cancelled cargo transportation related fines and payments for the period of emergency state in the country, Trend reports with reference to the company.
Thus, under the unique conditions due to coronavirus pandemic, the company cancelled fine for failure to comply with the approved plan for the goods' transportation; ten-fold fee on storage of goods; the fee for the use of wagons and containers of the inventory (common) park; and the fee for running a shunting locomotive.
These measures are expected to relieve cargo transporters from paying over 500 million tenge of fines and payments ($1.1 million).
Additionally, Kaztemirtrans company, subsidiary of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, has cancelled fee for downtime on the access roads of the wagons of operating fleet during loading and unloading to support its clients during the emergency state.
On March 15, 2020, Kazakhstan’s President Kassym Jomart Tokayev signed a decree introducing an emergency state in Kazakhstan due to the coronavirus outbreak, which came in force from 08:00 (GMT +6) on March 16 till 08:00 April 15, 2020.
On Apr. 14, 2020, by a decree of Kazakhstan's president, the emergency state period in Kazakhstan was extended till May 1, 2020.
The total number of confirmed the coronavirus cases in Kazakhstan has reached 1,967. The first two cases of the coronavirus infection were detected in Kazakhstan among those who arrived in Almaty city from Germany on March 13, 2020.
