BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 24. Russia's Gazprom will significantly increase its natural gas supplies to Kyrgyzstan starting in 2026, Arzymat Aldayarov, Deputy General Director for Economics and Finance of Gazprom Kyrgyzstan, told journalists, Trend reports.
The increased gas supply will be directed to the Bishkek Thermal Power Plant (TPP) once it fully transitions to natural gas, Aldayarov stated.
He noted that currently, Kyrgyzstan consumes 500 million cubic meters of gas annually, compared to 200 million cubic meters at the beginning of Gazprom Kyrgyzstan's operations in the country.
For reference, at the 2024 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June 2024, long-term contracts for the supply of natural gas to Kyrgyzstan were signed between Gazprom Export and Gazprom Kyrgyzstan. The deliveries under these new contracts will take place from 2025 to 2040.
Additionally, long-term supply agreements have been concluded between Gazprom Kyrgyzstan and major consumers in the country, including Electric Stations company and Bishkekteploenergo municipal enterprise.
Gazprom Kyrgyzstan, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom, is the exclusive importer of natural gas to Kyrgyzstan and owns the country’s gas transportation and distribution systems.
