Wheat flour prices decline in Tajikistan, WFP says

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, January 20. The average price for a kilogram of wheat flour (first grade) in Tajikistan was recorded at 5.9 somoni ($0.54) as of January 8, 2024, Trend reports.

According to the latest report from the World Food Programme (WFP), there was a 1 percent decrease in the price within a week compared to January 2, 2024, when it stood at 6 somoni ($0.55).

In Dushanbe, the capital city, the price dropped to 5.6 somoni ($0.51), which is a 1-percent decrease compared to January 2, 2024. The Ishkoshim district and Khorog city reported the highest prices for wheat flour at 7 somoni ($0.64), remaining unchanged compared to January 2, 2024.

At the same time, the prices for a kilogram of wheat flour in Isfara city were the lowest, standing at 5.3 somoni ($0.49). They decreased by 6 percent compared to January 2, 2024.

WFP Tajikistan, in partnership with the Neksigol Mushovir advisory organization, has been monitoring commodity prices in markets across the country. Price data is collected through a network of field enumerators, with multiple traders interviewed for each commodity, and average prices recorded.
