DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, September 28. A new 220 kV power line from the Rogun Hydroelectric Plant to the Rogun substation has officially opened in Tajikistan, Trend reports.

The line was inaugurated by President Emomali Rahmon during his working visit to Rogun.

The total length of the power line is 12.7 kilometers. Additionally, the open distribution unit at the Rogun 220/110/35/10 kV substation has been upgraded. The construction cost for the project was $11 million.

With this modernization, electricity produced at the Rogun Hydroelectric Plant will be transmitted through the new 220 kV line, enhancing connectivity to the country’s unified energy system and improving overall reliability.

The upgraded substation will provide consistent electricity to the residents of Rogun, as well as to areas in the Rasht Valley, Faizabad, and parts of Vakhdat.

The Rogun Hydroelectric Power Plant, a 3,600-MW facility being built on the Vakhsh River, will have six units, each capable of generating 600 MW. Currently, two units are operational, and the third is expected to be fully commissioned by 2025.

According to estimates of the Rogun OJSC, the Rogun HPP is expected to produce over 13 billion kWh of electricity each year. The Tajik Ministry of Energy anticipates that once the plant is fully constructed, it could generate up to 17 billion kWh annually.
