TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 25. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed plans for the economic development of the nation's Syrdarya region, with a focus on attracting $5 billion in investments and creating 20,000 new jobs in 2025, Trend reports.
The region is about to experience more change, especially in the industrial and service sectors, after making strides in areas like energy, construction, and entrepreneurship.
As part of the development strategy, the government plans to establish industrial zones covering nearly 900 hectares of land across several districts, including Syrdarya, Shirin, Bayavut, Khavast, Mirzaabad, Gulistan, Akaltin, and Sardoba. These zones will provide the necessary infrastructure for businesses and are expected to attract $5 billion in investments. The goal is to generate more than 20,000 jobs, fostering a diverse and thriving economy in the region.
This initiative is a strategic component of the overarching framework aimed at mitigating unemployment and catalyzing economic diversification in Syrdarya, where the current unemployment metric is quantified at 22,000 individuals.
