Iran’s South Pars Gas Company unveils its savings through local production

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 12. Iran’s South Pars Gas Company has saved around 4 trillion rials (around $7.04 million) since the beginning of the Iranian year (March 20, 2024), the company's CEO, Gholamabbas Hosseini, told reporters, Trend reports.

Hosseini pointed out that the savings were raked in by rolling out 271 types of equipment right here at home for the first time, which had been flying in from abroad before.

The official added that the South Pars Gas Company is working closely with local startup companies to manufacture the necessary equipment and spare parts within the country.

"Currently, we are working under 160 contracts with local manufacturers and startups to produce key equipment and spare parts domestically for the first time," Hosseini said.

He emphasized that local companies and startups play a crucial role in reducing South Pars Gas Company’s dependency on foreign firms.

To note, South Pars Gas Company processes the rich gas produced from the South Pars gas field. More than 75 percent of the gas consumed in the country is supplied by this company. The company has 13 processing plants.

The company receives 650 million cubic meters of rich gas daily from the South Pars field, processing 580 million cubic meters for delivery to Iran's gas network. Additionally, the company produces 780,000 barrels of gas condensate, 15,000 tons of ethane, 15,000 tons of propane, 10,000 tons of butane, and 2,500 tons of sulfur daily.

South Pars Gas Company obtains 650 million cubic meters of rich gas daily from the South Pars gas field. A total of 580 million cubic meters of gas is processed and transferred to the country's gas network. The company also produces 780,000 barrels of gas condensate, 15,000 tons of ethane, 15,000 tons of propane, 10,000 tons of butane, and 2,500 tons of sulfur daily.

The South Pars gas field (North Doma in Qatar) is a joint gas field between Iran and Qatar. This field has 51 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves, of which 36 trillion cubic meters can be produced. Iran's share in this field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
