BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 10. Iran plans to boost the volume of rich gas processed at the South Pars Gas Company (SPGC) during the upcoming winter season, adding between 10 and 15 million cubic meters per day, the company's CEO, Gholamabbas Hosseini, told reporters, Trend reports.
Speaking to local media at the 29th Iran International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition, Hosseini noted that in connection with this increase, major overhaul works will be carried out at the processing plants of the SPGC. These repairs are scheduled to be completed by the end of September.
He added that the company currently processes nearly 600 million cubic meters of gas daily, which covers 73 percent of the country's gas supply.
The company official also highlighted that during the previous Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025), the South Pars Gas Company processed 3.5 billion cubic meters more gas compared to the prior year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024).
The South Pars Gas Company processes the rich gas extracted from the South Pars gas field, receiving 650 million cubic meters of rich gas daily. Of this, 580 million cubic meters are processed and delivered to the national gas network. Additionally, the company produces 780,000 barrels of gas condensate, 15,000 tons of ethane, 15,000 tons of propane, 10,000 tons of butane, and 2,500 tons of sulfur each day.
The South Pars gas field (North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field between Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran's share in the field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
