BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 21. Iran purchased 3.55 million tons of wheat from farmers between April 5 and June 18 under its guaranteed procurement program, with a total value of 729 trillion rials (about $1.12 billion), said Gholamreza Nouri, the country's Minister of Agriculture, Trend reports.
During a convening of the ministry, Nouri articulated that 60
percent of the financial allocations—amounting to 433 trillion
rials (approximately $666 million)—have been successfully executed
to agrarian stakeholders, with the residual capital set to be
disseminated in a phased approach.
He also emphasized that a total of 6.39 million hectares of land
were allocated for wheat cultivation this year, comprising 4.22
million hectares of rain-fed systems and 2.17 million hectares of
irrigated agricultural practices. The administration has
established the assured acquisition tariff at 205,000 rials
(approximately $0.38) per kilogram for bread wheat and 210,000
rials (approximately $0.39) for durum wheat for the ongoing Iranian
fiscal period.
