Iran imported $52.477 billion worth of goods during the last fiscal year (ended on March 21), which indicates a rise by 5.57 percent, compared to the preceding year.
The Islamic Republic imported some 41.23 million metric tons of goods during that period, 22.41 percent more year on year, according to the Iranian Customs Administration's annual report released April 7.
Wheat worth $2.29 billion topped the list of Iran's imported goods with 4.36 percent share from the country's total imports' value. The Islamic Republic imported 6.95 million metric tons of wheat in last fiscal year, indicating an increase by 75.3 percent in terms of volume year on year.
Iran's wheat imports also witnessed a 57 percent rise during the mentioned period compared to the preceding year in terms of value.
After wheat, motor vehicles with internal combustion engine worth $2 billion, corn fodder worth $ 1.75 billion, rice worth $1.41 billion and soybean meal worth $1.24 billion were other main imported goods of the Islamic Republic.
Tehran's rice imports have declined by 39 percent in last fiscal year, meanwhile the imports of motor vehicles registered a rise by 41.5 percent in terms of value compared with the preceding year.
Corn fodder imports also have increased by 14.7 percent year on year, meanwhile the imports of the soybean meal registered a fall by 32.2 percent in terms of value.
The five mentioned goods shared 16.55 percent of Iran's total imports in terms of value.
The average price for each one metric ton of Iran's imported goods in the mentioned period was $1273, which is 13.75 percent less than the previous year.
Iran's overall non-oil trade turn over stood at $102.22 billion during the last fiscal year. The figure indicates an 11.64 percent rise in comparison with the $91.56 billion trade turn over during the preceding year.
