BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 7. Iran exported 255,000 tons of products valued at $111 million through the customs of East Azerbaijan Province, located in the country's north-west, during the first month of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through April 20, 2025), Sadegh Namdar, an official of the province's Customs Department, told reporters, Trend reports.
He explained that the export increased by three percent in value, but grew by nine percent in weight compared to the corresponding period of last year.
According to Namdar, $27 million worth of iron and steel, $18 million worth of rubber products, $16 million worth of fruits, $7 million worth of machinery (tractors and others) and spare parts, $5 million worth of mineral oils, etc. were exported through the provincial customs in the mentioned month.
The official added that during the reporting period, products worth $42 million were exported mainly to Türkiye, $20 million to Armenia, $15 million to Iraq, $5 million to Russia, and $4 million to Afghanistan through the East Azerbaijan Province customs.
The Iranian Customs Administration data shows that during the first month of the current Iranian year, Iran exported 8.95 million tons of non-oil products worth $2.94 billion, marking a decrease of eight percent in value and 8.3 percent in weight.
