BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 8. The Embassy of the United Kingdom in Azerbaijan has issued a statement marking the anniversary of the historic Washington summit involving Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and mediated by US President Donald Trump.
The statement was published on the social media platform “X,” in connection with the first anniversary of the agreements reached at the Washington summit.
The statement notes that the United Kingdom highly values the political will of the leaders who took this historic step toward peace on the first anniversary of the agreements reached at the Washington Summit.
“Maintaining momentum through continued dialogue and cooperation remains essential to building a secure and prosperous region for generations to come. The UK remains committed to supporting,” the embassy’s statement emphasizes.
On August 8, 2025, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of the US Donald Trump, and Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan signed a Joint Declaration following the meeting between the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia in Washington.
On the same day, as part of the meeting between President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of the US Donald Trump, and Prime Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan in Washington, D.C., the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, initialed the draft “Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Inter-State Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia.”
In addition, the foreign ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia signed a joint appeal to the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office calling for the termination of the activities of the OSCE Minsk Process, the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office’s Personal Representative on the conflict discussed at the Minsk Conference, and the High-Level Planning Group.
