BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 9. Iranian Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Chairman Ebrahim Azizi called on the countries participating in the Mecca Pact to refrain from any possible actions against Tehran.
The Iranian parliament committee chairman made the remarks in a post on X.
Azizi said the Mecca Agreement demonstrates that Arab countries have recognized the need for regional cooperation to ensure security; however, he said, they have yet to find the right path.
Azizi also warned of the consequences of any possible actions against Iran, stressing that Tehran would not leave “any mistake” unanswered.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed the Mecca Joint Defense Pact. Under the agreement, which is based on the inherent right to self-defense enshrined in Article 51 of the UN Charter, an armed attack against any one of the three signatory states will be regarded as an attack against all parties.
