BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 20. A joint press conference was held in Baku featuring Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović, Trend reports.
The press conference discussed bilateral relations between the countries, as well as current international and regional issues.
Speaking at the conference Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that Azerbaijan and Montenegro have built a significant and meaningful history of bilateral cooperation.
According to Bayramov, important agreements were reached between Azerbaijan and Montenegro in 2025, and a number of relevant agreements were signed.
"Azerbaijan has invested nearly $1 billion in Montenegro’s economy, with the majority of funds directed toward the tourism sector," - he added.
The minister also noted that political consultations between the foreign ministries of both countries are held regularly. Currently, Azerbaijan and Montenegro have signed 22 agreements covering a range of sectors, further strengthening bilateral ties.
“During our discussions and through the intergovernmental commission, a wide range of issues was thoroughly examined. In particular, trade turnover, the provision of mutual preferences, and the expansion of cooperation were discussed,” Bayramov said.
Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović, in turn, emphasized that relations between Azerbaijan and Montenegro are friendly and grounded in concrete results and collaborative efforts.
"We are confident that upcoming high-level contacts will further strengthen cooperation between our states and allow us to fully realize the significant potential of our interaction,” he said.
He also noted that Montenegro welcomes the agreements reached in Washington between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
"We are pleased that the process is moving in the right direction. We hope that your country, a leader in the energy sector, will continue to be a leader in matters of peace and prosperity – not only in the region but throughout the world,” he noted.
