BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 4. Kazakhstan’s national gas company QazaqGaz and the KAZENERGY Association have discussed further cooperation and strategic priorities for the development of the country’s gas industry.

According to the press service of QazaqGaz, Chairman of the Management Board of QazaqGaz Alibek Zhamauov held a meeting with Chairman of KAZENERGY Serikkali Brekeshev, during which the parties reviewed current issues in the gas sector and potential areas of joint work.

The discussions focused on consolidating efforts between the national company and the industry community to support the implementation of strategic objectives in Kazakhstan’s energy sector. "During the meeting, current issues related to the development of the gas industry were discussed, as well as promising areas of cooperation between QazaqGaz and KAZENERGY. The parties discussed consolidating the efforts of the national company and the industry community to achieve strategic objectives for the development of Kazakhstan's energy sector," QazaqGaz noted.

Following the meeting, QazaqGaz and KAZENERGY confirmed their mutual interest in expanding cooperation and implementing joint initiatives aimed at further developing the gas industry.

KAZENERGY is Kazakhstan’s largest industry association, bringing together representatives of the oil and gas and energy sectors, as well as serving as a platform for cooperation between businesses, government bodies and the expert community.

Recently, on July 27, 2026, Serikkali Brekeshev has been elected Chairman of Kazakhstan's KAZENERGY Association. The decision was made at an extraordinary General Meeting of KAZENERGY members held in Astana. The meeting approved the termination of the powers of former Chairman Bolat Akchulakov following his appointment as Akim (Governor) of Kazakhstan's Atyrau Region.

Akchulakov had led KAZENERGY since February 2025. Participants at the meeting noted that during his tenure the association strengthened its role as the country's leading platform for dialogue between the government and the business community, expanded Kazakhstan's international profile, and continued to represent the interests of the oil, gas and energy sectors during tax and regulatory reforms, as well as legislative improvements in the field of subsoil use.
