BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 3. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and newly appointed Estonian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Tiina Nirk discussed prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in trade, digitalization, transport, education and other areas.

According to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, during the meeting, Ambassador Tiina Nirk presented a copy of her credentials to Minister Bayramov. The minister congratulated the ambassador on her new appointment and wished her success in her diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan.

The sides discussed prospects for developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Estonia in political, economic, trade, transport, digitalization, education and other areas.

The decision by Estonia to establish an embassy in Azerbaijan was welcomed, with the sides expressing confidence that this step would contribute to further development of bilateral relations, intensification of political dialogue and strengthening of the institutional foundations of cooperation.

The parties emphasized the importance of the Azerbaijan-Estonia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation in expanding economic ties and noted that holding the commission’s next meeting would contribute to developing cooperation in new areas.

The sides also highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation in education, academic exchange programs and ties between higher education institutions.

Ambassador Tiina Nirk noted that Estonia attaches great importance to developing relations with Azerbaijan and said that she would make efforts to further expand bilateral cooperation across all areas.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on other regional and international issues of mutual interest.
