BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 3. Uzbekistan's state energy company Uzbekneftegaz and China National Petroleum Corporation's (CNPC) drilling subsidiary CCDC discussed expanding strategic cooperation, accelerating joint investment projects and deploying digital technologies in oil and gas operations during talks in China.
This was reflected in the statement by the Uzbekneftgaz.
The meeting took place as part of a working visit to China by a delegation led by Uzbekneftegaz Chairman Abdugani Sanginov.
The parties reviewed the current state of bilateral cooperation, which includes equipment imports, oilfield services and joint investment projects, and discussed priority areas for further collaboration.
"The parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic partnership, expanding joint high-tech projects and consistently developing mutually beneficial cooperation," Uzbekneftegaz said in a statement.
A key topic of the talks was efforts to eliminate an emergency situation at the M-25 field, with sides reviewing the project's technical and organizational aspects. The two sides agreed to accelerate its transition to the implementation phase and begin practical work in line with the agreed schedule.
According to the company, both parties also confirmed their readiness to fulfill their financial obligations under the terms of the relevant agreements.
The meeting highlighted the growing strategic partnership between Uzbekneftegaz and Chinese energy companies, which the Uzbek company said has expanded significantly in recent years through closer cooperation supported by the leadership of both countries.
During the visit, the Uzbek delegation was also introduced to CCDC's digital technologies used to support oil and gas engineering operations. The presentation included automated drilling systems, real-time monitoring and operational management platforms, and intelligent systems designed to oversee industrial safety and workforce compliance at production sites.
The parties exchanged views on the potential application of these technologies in Uzbekistan to improve drilling efficiency, enhance operational management and accelerate the digital transformation of the country's oil and gas sector.
