ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 4. South Korea is planning to construct a 200-bed multidisciplinary hospital in Kazakhstan's Almaty region, Trend reports

This became known during the negotiations between the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtliev, and the leadership of "Hyundae Hospital."

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan has arrived in the Republic of Korea for an official visit, where he is set to meet with the country's leadership, hold discussions with Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul, and participate in the "Central Asia – Republic of Korea" forum. On the first day of his visit, the Kazakh Foreign Minister engaged with representatives from major South Korean companies to enhance trade, economic, and investment cooperation.

Meetings with "With You E&C" centered on the construction of a waste processing plant in the Kyzylorda region, a key initiative for Kazakhstan's goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2060. This facility aims to improve environmental conditions and promote sustainable economic growth in the region. The company also expressed interest in expanding the project to establish similar plants in other areas of Kazakhstan.

Additionally, discussions with leaders from "Sejong" and "Seoyon E-HWA" focused on automotive component production projects in the Kostanay region. The Korean partners showed a strong interest in investing in Kazakhstan and indicated their commitment to training local personnel for effective technology transfer. The Kazakh Foreign Minister underscored the government’s support for these initiatives, which will strengthen economic ties between Kazakhstan and South Korea.

Over the past 18 years, direct investments from South Korea in Kazakhstan have totaled approximately $9.6 billion. By the end of 2023, the gross inflow of direct investments from Korea reached $1.2 billion, with South Korean investors actively pursuing projects in transportation, petrochemicals, metallurgy, and equipment. Notable South Korean companies involved in investment projects in Kazakhstan include "Hyundai," "KIA," "Nexstar Engineering," and "BGF Retail," among others.
