TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, August 22. More than $200 billion in investment has been made in Baku over the past 20 years, Baku Mayor Eldar Azizov said at the fourth Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Regional Forum in Tashkent, Trend's special correspondent reports.

“An interesting point: more than $200 billion has been invested in the city over the past 20 years. This process is continuing and gaining momentum,” Azizov said.

According to him, Baku continues to develop rapidly across a range of areas and is preparing for new urban development standards as a result of the policies pursued by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Azizov noted that Baku and its wider metropolitan area are now home to more than three million people. He also highlighted new examples of modern architecture in the city, including the Heydar Aliyev Center, Baku Olympic Stadium and the Flame Towers.

Azizov emphasized that Baku is not only a rapidly developing metropolis but also a platform for investment in urban infrastructure. “Most importantly, the city is safe. This safety is ensured not only by public order, cleanliness and an effective law enforcement system. Baku is also a safe city for investment in urban infrastructure,” he said.

The head of Baku’s executive authority invited representatives of Uzbek businesses to implement joint projects in the Azerbaijani capital. “We invite you to cooperate with us in our city and on our urban development platforms,” Azizov emphasized.
