During the talks, Mikhail Mishustin outlined the priority areas for the development of Russia-Kazakhstan relations. "Kazakhstan is a strategic partner and ally of Russia, and the relationship is based on the principles of friendship, good-neighborliness, mutual respect, and consideration of each other's interests. During President Vladimir Putin's state visit, important agreements were reached on further developing the relations between the two countries. The government's task is to ensure their clear implementation," said Mishustin.
Mishustin also noted that Russia holds a leading position among Kazakhstan's external trade partners, with mutual trade exceeding 2.6 trillion rubles ($26 billion). The intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between the countries is working actively.
Mikhail Mishustin also emphasized that cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere is actively developing, with branches of Moscow universities operating in Kazakhstan and about 60,000 Kazakhstani students studying in Russia. In 2025, an international organization for the Russian language will begin its work, which was created at the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan.
Additionally, the head of the Russian government, Mikhail Mishustin, arrived in Astana on a working visit. He will also take part in a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and activities of the Digital Almaty technological forum.
