BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 7. Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia discussed strengthening cooperation within international and regional organizations.
This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, following a meeting between Deputy Foreign Minister Arman Isagaliyev and Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Foreign Minister for International Multilateral Relations Abdurrahman Al-Rassi.
The sides noted the positive dynamics of Kazakhstan–Saudi relations, based on friendship and mutually beneficial partnership.
"Particular attention was paid to coordination of positions and mutual support for initiatives of the two countries at multilateral platforms," the statement of the Kazakh MFA says.
The officials also reviewed the schedule of upcoming bilateral events at the high and highest levels, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that these meetings result in concrete agreements and practical outcomes. Following the talks, the sides agreed to continue active and constructive dialogue between the foreign ministries of Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia.
Diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia were established on 30 April 1994, following Saudi Arabia’s early recognition of Kazakhstan’s independence. Over the subsequent decades, the partnership has developed steadily based on mutual trust and shared interests, evolving into a strategic relationship. High-level contacts and intergovernmental agreements have expanded energy cooperation (including traditional hydrocarbons and renewables such as large-scale wind projects), mining and critical minerals, investment protection, infrastructure, agribusiness and cultural-humanitarian fields. In early 2026, the two countries signed agreements on the promotion and mutual protection of investments and established a bilateral Coordination Council, while both sides continue to coordinate closely within multilateral organisations, including the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and to explore further practical projects of mutual benefit.
