ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 31. The heads of Kazakhstan's company Kazlogistics and the international Iranian holding Eurasian Caspian Trans discussed the implementation of projects related to transit shipments via the North-South corridor, Trend reports.
During the meeting in Kazakhstan’s Astana, the parties discussed cooperation in the development of transit transportation and the strengthening of economic ties between their countries.
In recent years, cooperation with Iran has been expanding. Kazakhstan intends to ratify the Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and its member states with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The agreement aims to create favorable conditions for promoting goods in the partner market and attracting investments into EAEU countries. Iran plans to increase trade turnover with Kazakhstan to $3 billion.
Special attention during the negotiations was given to the implementation of projects related to transit shipments through the North-South corridor.
Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, and Iran have signed a "roadmap" for the synchronized development of the eastern route of the North-South International Transport Corridor for 2024-2025. Additionally, transport shipments along the China-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran transit corridor have been intensified. In 2024, grain shipments to Iran doubled, reaching 526,000 tons.
To note, Eurasian Caspian Trans LLP is part of Arzesh Afarinan Fadak, the largest private investment holding in Iran, and provides railway transportation services both domestically and internationally.
Additionally, in July last year, the first phase of the China-Iran-Europe railway corridor was launched at the Aprin dry port and railway terminal.
