BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 4. The volume of deposits of individuals in banks of Azerbaijan amounted to 14.4 billion manat ($8.4 billion) on January 1 this year.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's Central Bank shows that the volume of deposits increased by 426.3 million manat ($250.7 million), or 3 percent, compared to December 1 last year, and by 1.7 billion manat ($1 billion), or 13.2 percent, compared to the same period last year.
As of January 1 of the current year, the volume of deposits of individuals in banks in national currency amounted to 9.7 billion manat ($5.7 billion), and in foreign currency - 4.9 billion manat ($2.8 billion).
The volume of deposits in national currency increased by 349.5 million manat ($205.5 million) or 3.7 percent compared to December 1 last year, and in annual terms - by 1.1 billion manat ($647 million) or 12.5 percent.
This indicator in foreign currency increased by 76.8 million manat ($45.1 million) or by 1.6 percent compared to December last year, and in annual terms - by 630.2 million manat ($370.7 million) or by 14.6 percent.
