BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 18. The total agricultural production value in actual terms in Azerbaijan amounted to 547.8 million manat ($321.8 million) in January this year.

Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee shows that 518.7 million manat ($303.8 million) of that is for livestock production, while 29.1 million manat ($17.1 million) is for crop production.

Compared to the same month last year, agricultural production grew by 2.2 percent, with livestock products increasing by 1.3 percent and crop production up by 20.8 percent.

As of January 1, 2025, breeding farms had 28,800 head of cattle and 23,200 sheep and goats. State-owned and private breeding farms sold 8,900 cattle and 7,600 sheep and goats last year to legal entities and individuals engaged in livestock breeding to improve the breed composition of cattle.

In 2024, 176,900 heads of cows and bulls were bred using elite breeder seeds. Last year, there were 3,037 greenhouses in the country, covering a total area of 1,600 hectares, producing 224,900 tons of tomatoes, 11,600 tons of cucumbers, 1,600 tons of mushrooms, 237.6 tons of strawberries, 151.3 tons of potatoes, 55 tons of lemons, 35.5 tons of cabbage, 22.3 tons of onions, 15.3 tons of eggplants, 14.1 tons of peppers, and other fruits and vegetables.

Compared to other regions, more products were grown in the greenhouse farms of the Absheron, Shamkir, Khazar, Salyan, Binagadi, Sabunchu, Kurdamir, Tovuz, Samukh, and Sabirabad districts. In January, 25,500 tons of vegetables were harvested from covered land areas across the country.
