ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 2. During their visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, Kazakhstan's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alibek Kuantyrov, Chairman of the Board of JSC "NC KAZAKH INVEST," Yerzhan Yelekeyev, and Consul General of Kazakhstan in Frankfurt am Main, Taubaldy Umbetbayev, engaged in a series of meetings with executives from leading German companies, Trend reports via Kazakh Invest.
At SHS - Stahl-Holding-Saar GmbH & Co. KGaA, the largest steel producer in the German Saarland, the parties discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of sustainable metallurgy.
“The company is undertaking a major initiative to transition to low-carbon steel production through hydrogen technologies, with a total investment of 3.5 billion euro. In light of these plans for green innovation, the Kazakh delegation presented several potential investment projects that could be developed in collaboration with German partners in Kazakhstan,” Kazakh Invest informs.
In the course of the meeting with Becker Mining Systems AG, a global leader in integrated technology solutions for mining, the parties explored opportunities in the mining, metallurgy, and engineering sectors.
“Becker Mining expressed strong interest in localizing the production and assembly of mining and metallurgical equipment in Kazakhstan. The company, which already supplies equipment to the Kazakh market, plans to open a subsidiary in Kazakhstan later this year. Becker Mining is renowned worldwide for providing energy, automation, communication, transport, infrastructure, and mine safety solutions to major international corporations,” added Kazakh Invest.
Kalzip GmbH, part of the Donges Group and a provider of aluminum roofing and facade systems, also confirmed its interest in establishing production facilities for construction materials in Kazakhstan. Having previously supplied materials for sports facilities in Astana, Kalzip is now considering involvement in projects focused on building energy-efficient, eco-friendly structures across Kazakhstan.
Drache Umwelttechnik GmbH, a producer of high-tech foundry equipment, presented its cutting-edge solutions for aluminum casting. Discussions included the potential use of Drache’s equipment in Kazakhstan's metallurgical plants and the export of filtration systems to the local market.
Moreover, throughout these discussions, Alibek Kuantyrov emphasized Kazakhstan’s commitment to advancing projects in the mining and metallurgy complex (MMC), a critical sector of the national economy.
“The MMC currently accounts for approximately 26 percent of Kazakhstan’s industrial output, with metallurgy representing nearly 44 percent of the processing industry. Kazakhstan holds vast mineral reserves and is focused on adding value through the deep processing of raw materials,” concluded Kazakh Invest.
In this context, collaboration with leading global companies specializing in next-generation technologies is a key priority for the government. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and KAZAKH INVEST are committed to providing comprehensive support to investors throughout all stages of project development in this sector.
