ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 19. The National Bank of Kazakhstan has rolled out the figures from January through February 2025 concerning the workings of the Interbank Money Transfer System and the Interbank Clearing System.
Data obtained by Trend from the National Bank of Kazakhstan indicates that from January through February 2025, a total of 12.9 million electronic payment messages were processed through the Interbank Clearing System, amounting to 2.2 trillion tenge (approximately $4.18 billion).
Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of payment messages in this system increased by 39.2 percent, which is 3.6 million additional documents. The payment amount also grew by 32.9 percent (an increase of 534.5 billion tenge, or approximately $1.02 billion).
"On average, 321,400 payment messages were processed per day through the Interbank Clearing System, amounting to 53.9 billion tenge (approximately $102.5 million). This is 46.1 percent more in terms of the number of payments (an increase of 101,400 transactions) and 39.6 percent more in terms of the amount (an increase of 15.3 billion tenge, or approximately $29.1 million) compared to the same period last year," notes the bank.
The data elucidate the sustained expansion in the magnitude and dynamics of interbank settlements, underscoring the robustness and evolution of Kazakhstan's financial ecosystem.
