BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 22. Trade operations between Azerbaijan and European Union (EU) countries reached $7.19 billion from January through April 2025.
The data obtained by Trend from the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee shows that this marks an increase of about $1.88 billion, or 35.5 percent, compared to the same period of 2024 ($5.3 billion).
The value of goods imported from the EU countries during the reporting period amounted to $6.2 billion, which is $1.7 billion, or 38 percent, higher year on year.
Meanwhile, exports to EU countries reached $956 million, showing an increase of $168 million, or 21.1 percent, compared to the first four months of 2024.
Specifically, from January through April last year, the value of Azerbaijan's imports from EU countries was $4.517 billion, while exports totaled $788 million.
Overall, Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover in the first four months of 2025 totaled $16.9 billion, an increase of $3.3 billion, or 24.1 percent, compared to the same period last year.
Exports amounted to $8.7 billion, while imports reached $8.1 billion, marking respective increases of $616.1 million (7.5 percent) and $2.7 billion (48.8 percent) year on year.
Consequently, Azerbaijan recorded a positive trade balance of nearly $651.7 million, which is $2.1 billion, or 4.15 times less than the surplus registered in the same period last year.
