ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 23. Chairman of the Management Board of KazMunayGas, Askhat Khassenov, held a meeting with Zhang Daowei, Vice President of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), to discuss a number of joint strategic projects, Trend reports.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the terms of gas supply from the Urikhtau field to the Zhanazhol gas processing plant in the Aktobe region, operated by CNPC-Aktobemunaigas.
Moreover, it was noted that the supply of raw gas is planned to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026 through 2027 - up to 200 million cubic meters per year, and starting from December 2027 - approximately 1 billion cubic meters per year.
"Simultaneously, work is underway on developing project documentation for the development of the Urikhtau field, as well as testing gas wells to conduct a detailed analysis of the gas's component composition and determine the most efficient processing methods," the company said in a statement.
The parties also discussed the current operations of joint ventures, in particular the fields operated by Mangistaumunaigas.
Additionally, special attention was given to the efficient development of mature oil fields, including hard-to-recover reserves, through enhanced oil recovery technologies such as polymer flooding, the use of cross-linked polymer compositions, and drilling of technologically complex wells.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Askhat Khassenov and Zhang Daowei expressed their readiness to continue active cooperation on all strategic projects to ensure mutually beneficial collaboration.
