Iran imported 8.6 million tons of goods worth $8.1 billion from the neighboring countries during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through October 21, 2020), Director General of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Mehdi Mirashrafi said, Trend reports citing IRICA.
According to the director general, the neighboring countries accounted for 44 percent of Iran's total imports in terms of volume and 40 percent in terms of value during the reporting period.
“Furthermore, the neighboring countries accounted for Iran’s total foreign trade 59 percent in terms of volume and 51 percent in terms of value,” he added.
Mirashrafi noted Iran's foreign trade turnover amounted to a total of 85 million tons worth about $38.3 billion over 7 months.
The director general stressed that Iran's foreign trade turnover with neighboring countries amounted to 50.4 million tons worth $19.6 billion.
According to him, Afghanistan, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Turkmenistan, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and others are the neighboring countries with which Iran traded.
"Iran imported goods worth $4.72 billion from the UAE, worth $2.23 billion from Turkey and worth $671 million from Russia during the seven months he said.
