The construction of the Goureh-Jask crude oil pipeline will be completed by the end of the current Iranian year (until March 20, 2021), Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh said, Trend reports citing the Shana news agency.
He made the remark in an event dedicated to the launch of the pipelines for transportation of oil products.
Zanganeh noted that certain tests will be carried out on the pipelines for about a month. About 40 percent of the pipeline should be tested. The pipeline can be put into operation without testing. However, there may be a risk of environmental pollution.
“The largest Iranian-made pumps and other equipment have been installed in the pipeline,” he said.
The minister added that the Goureh-Jask crude oil pipeline will be launched in the first months of the next Iranian year (to start March 21, 2021).
The construction of the 1,000-kilometer Goureh-Jask oil pipeline project worth more than $1.8 billion has been outsourced to local manufacturers and contractors. It is planned to transport 1 million barrels of crude oil per day via the pipeline.
It is planned to install 6 submarine pipelines, crude oil metering systems and 3 floating systems (SPM) at the Jask oil terminal in Iran. At the first stage, 1 metering system, two 36-inch pipelines and one floating system will be put into operation for the extraordinary operation of this terminal.
As reported, three pipelines for transportation of oil products were put into operation in Iran today on February 22.
The Shazand-Qom-Ray pipeline can transport daily 300,000 barrels of oil products, the Nain-Kashan-Ray pipeline – daily 204,000 barrels and the Tabriz-Khoy-Urmia pipeline – daily 65,000 barrels.
In total, 9.64 trillion rials (about $230 million) and 84.5 million euro was spent on the construction of these pipelines.
