Iranian banks support trade sector with generous loans

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 16. Local Iranian banks granted loans worth roughly 3.15 quadrillion rials (about $75 billion) in the trade sector of the country in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023), Trend reports.

Data from Iran's Central Bank shows that the following loans were allocated in the trade sector:

- Working capital: approximately 2.76 quadrillion rials (about $65.6 billion);

- Development work: 177 trillion rials (about $4.23 billion);

- Establishment of enterprises: around 168 trillion rials (about $3.99 billion);

- Purchase of housing: 25.1 trillion rials ($599 million);

- Purchase of personal 13.1 trillion rials ($312million);

- Self-employment: 5.72 trillion rials (about $136 million);

- Repair work: 4.38 trillion rials ($104 million).

In total, the Iranian banks granted loans worth about 31.7 quadrillion rials (about $754 billion) in various economic sectors within the first 9 months of the current Iranian year.
