BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 11. The consumer price index in Albania for May 2025 is sitting pretty at 2.2 percent, just like it was a year prior, keeping things on an even keel. When you stack April 2025 against the current month, the consumer price index has taken a bit of a dip, showing a change of -0.3 percent, Trend reports citing the country's Institute of Statistics.
According to the information, the annual growth rate in May was influenced mostly by the prices of the “Food and non-alcoholic beverage” group by +1.1 percent, followed by the “Housing, water, electricity, and other fuel” group, which contributed +0.3 percent. Also, prices of “Furniture household goods and maintenance” group contributed by +0.24 percent, prices of “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco” group contributed by +0.18 percent, prices of “Recreation and culture” group contributed by +0.14 percent, prices of “Hotels, coffee-house and restaurants” group contributed by +0.1 percent, prices of “Clothing and footwear” contributed by +0.1 percent, prices of “Miscellaneous goods and services” group contributed by +0.06 percent, prices of “Communication” group contributed by +0.05 percent, prices of “Education service” group contributed by +0.03 percent, prices of “Health” contributed by +0.02 percent and prices of “Transport” group contributed by -0.1 percent.
Compared to May 2024, prices increased the most in the “Recreation and culture” group by 6.3 percent, followed by “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco” by 3.7 percent, “Food and non-alcoholic beverages” and “Furniture, household goods, and maintenance” by 3.2 percent each, “Clothing and footwear” by 2.5 percent, “Hotels, coffee houses, and restaurants” by 1.8 percent, “Communication” by 1.6 percent, “Housing, water, electricity, and other fuel” by 1.5 percent, “Miscellaneous goods and services” by 1.1 percent, “Education service” by 0.9 percent, and “Health” by 0.5 percent. On the other hand, prices of “Transport” decreased by 1.2 percent. Within the food group, prices of “Oils and fats” subgroup increased by 7.2 percent, followed by “vegetables, including potatoes” by 6.8 percent, “milk, cheese, and eggs” by 4.8 percent, “meat” by 3.8 percent, “Bread and cereals” by 0.9 percent, etc.
Stacking April 2025 against the current figures, the prices in the “Food and non-alcoholic beverage” group have taken a bit of a nosedive, dropping by 1.3 percent. Hot on its heels, the “Miscellaneous goods and services” group has also seen a slight dip, down by 0.1 percent. On the other hand, prices of the “Recreation and culture” group increased by 0.6 percent, followed by “Housing, water, electricity, and other fuel” by 0.5 percent, “Furniture, household goods, and maintenance” by 0.4 percent, “Transport” by 0.3 percent, and “Health,” “Communication,” and “Hotels, coffee-houses, and restaurants” by 0.1 percent each.
