ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 17. Kazakhstan intends to increase the sale of domestic goods on online marketplaces, said the Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Arman Shakkaliyev at a government meeting, Trend reports.
"In particular, on some electronic trading platforms, special sections have been created for Kazakh products. National pavilions have been opened on two large Chinese marketplaces, Alibaba and JD.com. Today, 7,500 domestic goods are presented on the Alibaba platform; on JD.com, there are about 30 items of Kazakhstani products, which are in demand among 1 million marketplace subscribers from China," the minister noted.
To note, as of December 2023, sales of Kazakhstani products through JD.com exceeded $140,000.
In addition, the largest Russian electronic trading platforms, Ozon and Wildberries, also operate in Kazakhstan. At the end of 2023, 45,400 and 55,704 Kazakh sellers were registered on these platforms, respectively.
Meanwhile, the share of e-commerce in Kazakhstan reached about 2.2 trillion tenge (about $4.8 billion), or 13 percent of retail sales, from January through November 2023.
In 2022, the volume of e-commerce was 12.5 percent, which is slightly more than 1.9 billion tenge (about $4.2 billion).
