BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, January 9. Kyrgyzstan exported 794,818 tons of brown coal (lignite), with the export value amounting to $27.432 million, from January through October 2023, Trend reports.
Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan indicates that the volume of exports increased by 21 percent compared to the same period in 2022 (653,864 tons). The value of exports rose by 44 percent compared to the corresponding months in 2022, when it was $19.034 million.
Mainly, Kyrgyzstan sold brown coal to Uzbekistan – 778,552 tons for $26.890 million. Additionally, 16,243 tons of brown coal worth $539,000 were exported to China. A total of 22 tons of such coal, valued at $3,000, was sent to Poland.
In the first ten months of 2022, Kyrgyzstan exported 21,000 tons of brown coal to Russia, generating a value of $5,900. However, during the same period in 2023, no exports were made.
Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade turnover amounted to $12.297 billion from January through October 2023, which is a 24.9-percent increase compared to the same period of 2022 ($9.845 billion).
Exports from Kyrgyzstan reached $2.443 billion during the 10 months, which is 29.6 percent higher than $1.885 billion recorded from January through October 2022. Imports into Kyrgyzstan amounted to $9.854 billion during this period, increasing by 23.8 percent compared to the same period in 2022 ($7.959 billion).
