BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, June 20. Consumer prices and tariffs in Kyrgyzstan increased by 3.3 percent by the end of May 2025 compared to December 2024, Trend reports, citing the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.
Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices saw the highest rise, increasing by 4.9 percent. Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products grew by 3.0 percent, non-food goods by 1.9 percent, and tariffs for public services increased by 1 percent.
Among food products, the most significant price hikes were recorded for potatoes (up 41.9 percent), fresh fish (17.3 percent), fresh vegetables (12.3 percent), vegetable oils and fresh fruits (7.4 percent), and fresh meat (6.9 percent), including lamb (11.1 percent), horse meat (7.3 percent), and beef (6.4 percent). Butter prices rose by 2.6 percent, baked goods by 2 percent, and flour by 1.5 percent. Conversely, prices fell for chicken eggs (down 10.7 percent), fresh milk (5 percent), sugar (3.9 percent), animal fats (3.5 percent), and rice (2.1 percent).
Price increases were observed in all regions of the country during this period. The highest overall price growth was in Talas region at 4.4 percent, driven primarily by a 7.4 percent rise in food and non-alcoholic beverage prices. The city of Osh recorded the largest increase in alcohol and tobacco prices at 7.2 percent. The highest growth in non-food product prices (3.1 percent) was seen in the Issyk-Kul region, while tariffs for public services rose most significantly in Naryn region by 4.3 percent.
