DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, January 29. The Main Department of Geology of Tajikistan has assessed the promising gold and silver resources in the country, as announced during a press conference, Trend reports.
In 2024, based on the results of geological exploration work, the total reserves of gold and silver at the Sarimard ore field were estimated. Promising gold and silver resources were also evaluated at the Oshoba deposit.
At the antimony manifestation of Oftobi, assay results showed gold content ranging from 0.1 to 2.5 g/t, silver content from 0.98 to 12.33 g/t, and chemical analyses indicated antimony levels from 0.05 to 5.06 percent. The preliminary analysis suggests the potential of this site.
Moreover, exploration work at the placer gold deposit of Obi Surkh showed gold concentrations ranging from 40 mg/m³ to 556.3 mg/m³, with estimated potential gold resources spanning 800 meters in length and 80 meters in width (depth ranging from 0.5 to 8 meters).
At the lead-zinc ore manifestation of Sangi Sabz, located in the Baljuvon district, the forecasted reserves of lead-zinc ores exceed 1 million tons, with projected silver reserves of over 3 tons.
Additionally, exploration for precious and semi-precious stones in the Shokhdara and Ishkashim mountain ranges led to the discovery of new occurrences of tourmaline and corundum at the Bagush site.
Several deposits of semi-precious stones, including sapphire, tourmaline, ruby, blue lazurite, fosterite, ophicalcite, and ofite, were also found. The estimated reserve of ophicalcite at the Bagush site is around 1200 m³ or 3120 kg in the P1 category.
