Flow of Iranian goods through Tamarchin Customs witnesses upswing

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 30. The transit of cargo through Tamarchin Customs in the Piranshahr district of West Azerbaijan Province, located in northwestern Iran, has increased by 120 percent during the nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through December 20, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through December 21, 2023), Director General of Iran's Tamarchin Customs Administration Ali Akbar Ashrafi told reporters, Trend reports.

He claims that over the course of nine months, Tamarchin Customs handled 1.12 million tons of cargo.

During the nine months, Tamarchin Customs imported 720,000 tons of products into the country for transit purposes, according to Ashrafi. This is 140 percent more than in the same period last year.

For nine months, Tamarchin Customs processed 402,000 tons of goods out of the country. This is 17 percent less than the same period last year.

He emphasized that oil products, cars, chemicals, and grains mainly transit through this customs office.

To note, Iran's Tamarchin Customs is located on the border with Iraq and is considered one of the main transit customs in northwestern Iran.
