BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 22. The transit of trucks through Iran's roads increased by 27 percent during ten months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024 through January 19, 2025) compared to the same period of last year (March 21, 2023 through January 20, 2024), Javad Hedayati, Director General of the Transit and International Transport Department of Iran's Road and Transport Organization told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, 14.7 million tons of cargo were transited by trucks along Iran's roads during ten months.
Hedayati added that the increase in transit on Iranian roads is the result of developing logistical capabilities and simplifying relations with neighboring countries.
The official stated that it is necessary to use all available opportunities to increase the country's trade and transit. Continuation of this process will bring great revenues to the country's economy.
To note, as many as 2,793 kilometers of highways, 45,170 kilometers of freeways and the main road are currently operating in Iran.
