BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 25. Trucks, red meat, and various types of tobacco products were mainly imported through the East Azerbaijan Province Customs, located in northwestern Iran, during ten months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through January 19, 2025), controller of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province Customs Sadegh Namdar said at a press conference in Tabriz, Trend reports.
According to him, a total of $363 million worth of trucks, $182 million worth of red meat, and $127 million worth of various tobacco products were imported during the ten months.
Namdar noted that a total of $1.7 billion worth of non-oil products were imported to the country via the East Azerbaijan Province customs during the ten months. The import of products increased by 21 percent compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023, through January 20, 2024).
The official stated that during the mentioned period, mainly non-oil goods worth $1.1 billion were imported from Türkiye, $174 million from the UAE, $171 million from China, $81 million from Germany, and $28 million from Japan.
He added that provincial customs revenues totaled 74 trillion rials (about $127 million) for the ten months. This is 72 percent more than the same period last year.
To note, Iran imported $56 billion worth of products during the ten months (from March 20, 2024, through January 19, 2025). The product imports increased by 3 percent compared to the same period of last year. Iran imported gold bars worth $6.2 billion during the mentioned period.
