BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 18. Iran's import of goods from Uzbekistan decreased in value by 28.5 percent and in weight by 49.6 percent during the 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through February 18, 2025), compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023, through February 19, 2024).
Data obtained by Trend from Iranian Customs Administration indicates that the country imported goods worth $80.6 million, totaling 37,400 tons from Uzbekistan during the mentioned period.
This is a notable decrease compared to the previous year when imports from Uzbekistan amounted to $113 million and 74,200 tons.
The statistics indicate that Iran imported cotton, beans, silk, ammonium nitrate, and other products from Uzbekistan during the reporting period.
Furthermore, it was reported that the total trade turnover between Iran and Uzbekistan reached around $449 million, with a volume of 553,000 tons. This represents a rise in trade value by 8.2 percent and weight by 5.7 percent compared to the same period last year.
The data also shows that Iran imported 35 million tons of products worth $63.6 billion during 11 months, meaning an increase of 5.6 percent in value but a decrease of 2.6 percent in weight terms compared to the same period last year.
In general, Iran mainly focuses on the import of essential products needed by the country and applies certain restrictions on the import of goods produced domestically.
